If you’ve spent any time living in southwest Michigan or northwest Indiana, you know that this area has a tremendous craft beer scene. From the Michigan staple, Bell’s up by Kalamazoo, to our own backyard breweries like Iechyd Da Brewing Company and Greenbush, finding a great pint is always easy. While this is great news for beer lovers, having this much great beer at your fingertips can also make it difficult to find and sample everything that the local brewers have to offer. Luckily, that won’t be a problem this year thanks to the 2013 South Bend Brewfest.

The 2013 South Bend Brewfest is your ticket to sampling some of the best beers that this area, and from across the country, have to offer. This is actually the second annual South Bend Brewfest, but the last one was held back in October of 2011. It was a great success and a lot of work has been put into making the second event even better. This year, the Brewfest is in the Great Hall at the Century Center, which is a perfect space when you have over 30 different breweries on hand to serve up over 125 different beers.

Beer and Breweries Attending

The list is still growing, but so far there are over 30 confirmed breweries attending and they will be serving up over 125 different beers. Plan on a long day of sampling beer, speaking with some of the local brewers, and making new beer friends. As a beer lover and home brewer, I always find these events not only a lot of fun, but very educational. Learning about all the different beer styles, how the beer is made, and how to pair beer with food.
